Testing soil, thanks to Ohio corn farmers!

Another grant winner who received supplies from Ohio Corn & Wheat! Mrs. Meeks’ environmental science class at Niles McKinley High School tested soil that will be used to grow their fruits and vegetables this spring. Students tested dirt from Trumbull County and found the soil they tested to have a pH of 8.0 with moderate phosphorus. The students are planted on Monday and will use the soil to grow peppers and tomatoes that they will be able to take home with them over the summer. “It is quite the experience for them because some have never tried to grow anything before,” Meeks said.

“Thank you for all that you do for FTW. You have given my students many opportunities that they otherwise would not have!”
